WOD... Crossfit Baby!

Frank Rodriguez(from Austin, TX) and myself push our bodies past a limit in which they want to cooperate with. Some days a in the middle of a Crossfit workout you can't help but ask yourself while your doing it "what the hell was i thinking when i started this"... None the less, you always finish what you start no matter how tired you get. If you haven't heard the term "Sic-fit" yet... I challenge you to try a WOD(workout of the day) from Crossfit.com... Today we did:
3 rounds for time:
-1000 meter row
- 50 thrusters (45lb bar)
- 30 Pullups
Frank began his Crossfit workouts with me no more than 2 weeks ago and this is what he has to say... "I've been working out since i was 12 yrs old and i've never had as much fun as I am now with any other program... Crossfit makes you compete every time you train and this is a method more challenging than i've ever known. I'm becoming more fit every day and i'm eager to continue on with this style of training."

The True reason of Christmas!!!

Can we do away with all the Controversy that surrounds the biggest and most important holliday of the year in our country. The story of Christ birth has been retold over and over again. Thousands of artist and laymen have transformed that into visual form so that the image may be clear in our mind as to why we do celebrate this holiday. Every aspect of Christ life was amazing, but the most miracleless was without question his birth. So many who who were involved on that glorious day played vital roles to ensure that the birth could even happen as well as keeping the baby Jesus out of harms way. Please, if you are celebrating this day with your loved ones today, take the time to read and recognize the truth as to why this is such an important day for us. May you all have a Merry Christmas!!! God Bless...

You Got it or You Don't!!!

When you are about to perform a lift, there are so many things that run through your mind. Where is my grip, set my feet, keep my eyes forward, chest out, shoulders back, triple-extension, keep the bar close, get under the weight... you can only let thes things cross your mind. Don't overthink them. Only one thing matters. Just Explode and do the lift. EXPLODE!!! Thats all that you got. Lifts done. Damn that feels good.

Inside Burgener's Brain

When it comes to learning from one of the best in the world, you really can't put any limits on how far you are willing to travel. Vista, California is the home of the best Olympic Weight-Lifting coaches in the USA. The man on my left in both of these pictures, Mike Burgener, has worked with thousands of Athletes of all ages, including the Olympic level. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to better my own coaching abilities because of a man like Coach Burgener who is willing to take the time to share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen. Thanks for everything coach. Congratulations to all you guys and gals whom also received your USAW Club Coach Certifications this weekend. Good Luck and God bless.

Toughin Up!!!

Text ColorSo pretty much everytime the weather has been below 50 degrees i've "wussed out" and gone to hit up a workout at the gym... Friday i decided that i was gonna take full advantage of the 40 degree tempature and get down and dirty the way all crossfiters know how... obviously being that i'm from Texas, i'm incredibly spoiled and can't stand the cold weather. The workout ended up rockin my world and anybody that seekin out a challenge, i dare you try this one.
4 rounds for time:
-20 hangs squat cleans (25 lb dmbls)
-20 pullups
-20 dips
-GPP w/20lb vest (50 skiers, 50 bellhops, 5 burbees, 20 mountain climbers, 5 squat jumps)
My time was 19 min and 20 secs
my body shut down for 30 minutes after this in the form of one of the best naps ever.
Rip it up today! Be better today than you were yesterday.

Holy Day

This is an amazing picture that a friend of mine sent me. Being that today is the Holy Day of reflection for the Immaculate Conception i thought this pic would work perfectly for a post today... Most people think of Mary as the mother of God but don't fully understand exactly how crucial her role in the birth of or savior actually was. Mary was chosen by God to be the Mother of Christ. Even though Mary questioned how this could even be possible and didn't fully understand the depths of God's request, she still embraced all that she was chosen for. You see, Mary was an amazing woman of faith, and she knew that all she needed to do was believe and accept the things that were asked of her. Mary is a perfect role model for all of us. As the mother of God, and of all of all of God's children(you and me), Mary showed us how to live a totally devout life. We should remember that, and do our best to do as she did when god calls us out to do things that maybe we don't fully understand.
